System log

System log

For normal use the job logs should be used in order to check up on processing of files, but in some rare cases you might need to look into the system log of InterFormNG2.

To access the system log you need to sign on as a system admin.

As default the system log files inside {InterFormNG2_HOME}\profiles\default\logs are never deleted, and it is expected that the admin deletes old log files when necessary. If you however active this option, then you can setup how of the log files should be before they are deleted from the system via the global system settings.

If you run InterFormNG2 on the IBM i platform, then you can also find this log in the IFS and via the menu option 31. Display print service log on the IFORMNG2 menu,

The system log looks like this:

NG2SystemLog0001

Log file

On the top left you can select a specific log file. Each file is named with the timestamp of when it was closed.

Log level filter

Here you can select the severity of the entries inside the system log, that you want to see. You can e.g. choose to only see entries referring to an error and/or warnings.

Search lines

You can also type in a text to search for in the system log.

On the top right you can see this:

NG2SystemLog0002

Rows per page

With rows per page you can decide how many entries from the system log, that you want to display in the browser window/page at a time.

The other icons can be used for maneuvering though the pages of the system log.
