Introduction to the Preview client

Introduction to the Preview client

IMPORTANT NOTE: This section below describes an optional preview client for InterFormNG2. The preview client was created long ago as an aid for users to get the optimal result view while working in the designer. Back then the result view in the designer was not optimal and that is why the preview client was offered as an aid. In the meantime the result window in the designer has been improved a lot, so the preview client is no longer really needed.

As an aid to the designer you can choose to install a preview client. The preview client works together with the designer and constantly merge the current template with the selected sample file in the designer.

The preview client can e.g. be used, if you have a PC with two screens. Then the preview client can run on one of the screens while you run the designer on the other screen.

The preview client does not need to be installed on the same machine as InterFormNG2.

Related sections in the manual are:

1.Installing the preview client.

2.Configuration of the preview client.

3.Create a keystore for the preview client.

4.Preview client log.

5.Preview client problem: Login failed. Use this section to debug problems with setting up the preview client.

You need to type in the configuration of the preview client, when you start it up the first time, and you need to type in the password of the user profile each time you start the preview client.

The parameters are explained in the preview client configuration.

The parameters are shown each time you start up the preview client, but the values from the previous session is saved, so you only need to type in changes if required.

To run the preview client and to start the preview you should click the Connect icon in the bottom.

If the preview client is unable to establish a connection, then you might see this error message:

NG2PreviewClient0002

If you see this error, then you should verify the port numbers above, the name/ip-address of the host and also verify if the InterFormNG2 host is configured and restarted after configuration.

A complete checklist is provided here: Login failed, check connection details and credentials.

If you see this pop up window:

Then the preview client has been able to connect to the host, but no designer session is currently active.

Enable the preview client in the designer

You can now start the designer on the host and here enable the preview client in the top of the screen:

Now the preview client should display the merged result as shown below. You should expect a slight delay, when you make a change in the designer.

In the bottom of the preview client you can setup the log level for the preview client log file.
