The preview client is a separate desktop application that can be used while designing templates in the web-based designer. The preview client should be installed on the designer's own PC and it will establish a network connection to the InterFormNG2 installation.
The preview client automatically generates a preview of the final sample document, similar to what you get when using the "preview" toolbar button in the designer. The main difference is that the preview in the client will update automatically whenever changes are made to the template in the designer.
When logged in as system admin, the settings are found under "Remote Design Preview":
Flip the switch "Enable remote preview support" to enable remote preview in the template designer.
The preview client needs a persistent network connection while it is running. A separate network port is used for this. The port number to use can be configured in the settings.
The template data sent over this network connection will be encrypted with TLS v1.2. This requires a certificate stored in a Java keystore. The file location of the keystore can be configured in settings above. By default an internal certificate file is used. This is fine for test purposes, but on a production server it should be replaced with a different certificate (see similar instructions for remote output).
You should NEVER place the keystore file in any of the data- or program directories for InterFormNG2, as a future upgrade might delete or move the keystore file.
Note that a restart of the InterFormNG2 service is required before the changed settings are activated.
